4th of July Outfits!

See, I don't always use Ottobre Design.  For Fourth of July of weekend, I made my girls and niece some fun matching outfits useing the Sweetheart Halter by Peek-a-boo Patterns.

This is such an easy pattern.  All the pieces are rectangles.  I lengthened my girls' to be dresses and left the baby's as a tunic for ease of crawling.

I even tried making stars in the girls' hair.  Eleanor's is made from braids and Laurel's has twists.  I found the idea on Pinterest.

The tunic needed a diaper cover so I used #7 Tiny Toes Bikini Bottoms from issue 3/2016 of Ottobre Design.  I love the little bows so much.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Fourth of July!

Simplicity 4496 and Violette Field Threads Charlotte

I know it has been forever and a half since I last posted anything, but I've been too busy/lazy.  I have been sewing quite a bit though.  To ease back in to blogging, I thought I'd post about an outfit I made a long long time ago (more than a year ago).  The top was made using a vintage nightgown pattern, Simplicity 4496, and the bloomers are a pattern from Violette Field Threads called the Charlotte pantaloons.

Originally, I was making it to be an actual nightgown, but it turned out so cute she's worn it to a wedding.

I have a thing for bows.

Looking at these pictures makes me want to make more!

Baby Bibs a Plenty.

Last month, I was approached by one of my husband's coworkers to make some bibs for her to send to a relative in Australia, who was having a baby boy.  I finally finished them last week and got around to blogging about them.  I found this amazing tutorial and used that as my base.  I made one to see if my client liked it, which she did, but she also wanted it embellished.  With my sewing machine under the weather, I couldn't embroider anything, so I went to pinterest (as always) to get some inspiration.  There were two that I really liked (here and here).

On the monster one, I put the teeth on the bottom edge of the back so when it is folded up into a crumb catcher, the monster would have a cute little mouth.  The tie one I ended up having to create my own template, but that wasn't very hard.  On the other four I used various sizes of vintage ric rac that my sister gave me.  I had a really hard time finding boyish fat quarters where I looked in town, but I'm happy with how they turned out anyways.
